Vigan Heritage Mansion

One of the best places to stay in when in Vigan is the Vigan Heritage Mansion located on Liberation Boulevard. It is a hotel that offers guests all the modern comforts a traveler might require while still providing them with the experience and feel of living in a 19th century mansion.

The original abode was the home of the late Ilocos Sur Governor Pedro Singson and was built in 1885. Governor Singson not only served as governor of Ilocos Sur for three terms including one during the administration of President Elpidio Quirino, he was also appointed as technical assistant to the president. Governor Singson also brought honor to the country as a Social Security commissioner who became vice-president of the Fourth World Congress of the Organizacion Iberoamericana de la Seguridad Social’s first technical commission.

Governor Singson was a brilliant student, who became a lawyer at the age of 22 and a Congress representative of Ilocos Sur’s first district before he reached the age of 30. After he left the political arena, he practiced his law profession until 1991 at the age of 87, when he died.

The full restoration of his ancestral home was undertaken by his daughter, Julie Singson Manahan.

Mrs. Manahan’s efforts on the improvement of their 118-year old home are her contribution to the preservation of the great cultural heritage of Vigan.

From its rooftop, guests can enjoy an enthralling view of the heritage homes along Crisologo Street whether by day or at night, while having a drink from the mansion’s bar located in the roof deck. It is one of the best places to hang out and unwind.

Whether guests come alone or in groups, the Vigan Heritage Mansion’s fully-airconditioned rooms can accommodate them. The mansion can serve up to 45 guests. It has a hall that converts into a conference area that companies can reserve for their trainings and seminar needs. The mansion’s dining room also serves as a wonderful venue for the sampling of authentic Vigan cooking.

The best thing about the Vigan Heritage Mansion is the good feedback it has received from past guests. It is known for having one of the most accommodating and gracious staff. They allow early check-in and late check-out depending on the availability of rooms.

Its rooms range from dormitory –style ones that can accommodate 10 guests, family rooms for four to eight members and standard rooms for three to five guests, up to standard twin rooms and deluxe single or twin-sharing rooms. All of them have hot and cold running water.
